A Childhood Dream,
Baked in Canastota.

Hello! I'm Ashley Hosmer, owner of Bread & Batter Baking Co. I’ve loved baking for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would bake cookies around the holidays with my grandmother and watch cooking shows, pretending that someday I would have a baking show of my own.
Years later, that childhood dream turned into something much bigger. After moving back to my hometown of Canastota, I started feeling more confident about opening a business of my own. I always told my husband and family that if I ever opened a place, it had to be in Canastota.

From Pop-Ups to
a Place of Our Own
Before opening our storefront, Bread & Batter was a pop-up bakery for about a year. We would open once or twice a month while I was still working full-time, and those days were always a little crazy. I would spend days preparing for one bakery day, only to sell out in as little as an hour and a half.
The response gave me the confidence to take the next step. I remember thinking, “I might actually be able to do this. This might work!”
On September 19, 2025, we officially opened Bread & Batter as a full-time bakery at 144 South Peterboro Street.
We have our weekly favorites, like chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins, focaccia, donuts and breakfast sandwiches, but I also love changing things up. Every week brings new baked goods and flavors, so there is always something different to discover.
For me, this business is about food, family and community. I’m proud to have brought a bakery back to Canastota and grateful for the opportunity to create something of my own.
Being part of this community also means finding ways to give back. We support local organizations and fundraisers, and donate baked goods to other local businesses at the end of the day.
Thank you for being part of our story. I can’t wait to see what we bake up next!
